Breathe in as much as you can with four counts. Hold that breath for another four counts, then you do the beginning the same (breathe in four hold in four) but this time breathe out slowly making a 'fff' sound for six counts.
Then you bump the six up to an eight, then a ten, then twelve, then fourteen, then sixteen, then eighteen, and the largest number you can go with out damaging your voice is twenty, works every time.
