Damaged Voice

About 10 years ago I had a weightlifting accident that left me with scar tissue in my voice box and nerve damage to 1 of my vocal cords. My voice actually relies on these outside muscles to help my 1 good vocal cord work. As the years have gone by my voice has taken on a unique and very deep, gravely tone. Recently I've met a friend who works in a recording studio finally talked me into doing a reading with music and I was amazed at the outcome. Although I realized years ago I'll never be able to sing again my voice has learned to combine the muscles and the cords to work together. Now that I've found this site and maybe with some exercises, well who knows?
I have a short track of a reading I've done with those of you who are interested and have the Quick Time program can email me for a copy at bigballbuster5150@yahoo.com.
I guess the point to this story is no matter how bad your voice is never give up if that's what you want.
